What's the News on Jatake Station, So It's Operating This Month?

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) or KAI Commuter spoke regarding the certainty of operating the new KRL station, namely Jatake Station in Pagedangan District, Tangerang Regency. Previously, the station was targeted to operate this month.

VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter Karina Amanda said in principle KCI had prepared all the supporting facilities that were under its authority, especially for Jatake Station which would serve the Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung Commuter Line route.

"For Jatake Station, we are still waiting. But in principle, the station facility needs to be supported by KCI is ready," Karina said in a press conference in Jakarta, Friday, December 19.

However, Karina admitted that she could not confirm the operational schedule of the station. The reason is that KCI is still waiting for directions from PT KAI (Persero) as the parent company, as well as the government represented by the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.

"So now we are just waiting and continuing to coordinate, both with KAI and with DJKA, for certainty on the time of operation," said Karina.

Government Targets to Operate in December 2025

Previously, the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi targeted the Jatake Station which is located in Pagedangan District, Tangerang Regency to be operational this month. However, Dudy did not explain in more detail when it would be.

Dudy said the construction of the station building was completed. Currently, he said, it only remains to wait for the results of the trial.

"If the construction of the station is completed. Now we are conducting a test of the station. Hopefully this December we can operate the Jatake Station. Hopefully there will be no changes," he said in a media briefing in Jakarta, Friday, December 5.

For information, the station which is the result of collaboration between KAI and a private party, namely PT Bumi Serpong Damai Tbk, is not only adding service points on the Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung line, but will become an integrated area-based transportation.

In the scheme, Jatake Station will be directly connected to the shopping center. This concept presents ease of mobility while supporting the development of transit-oriented development (TOD) based areas.

The construction of this station is carried out using a creative financing scheme, without dependence on the state budget (non-APBN). In terms of demand, the existence of the Jatake Station answers the public's need for capacity expansion of services across Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung.

The volume of commuter line users on this line shows a consistent increase trend from year to year. In 2022, the passenger volume reached 48,338,858 people, a significant increase to 64,899,516 people in 2023.

This trend continues in 2024, where the total volume reaches 73,296,200 users or an increase of almost 52 percent in two years. Entering 2025, only in the January-March period, the Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung crossing has served 19,089,018 customers.

KAI Vice President of Public Relations Anne Purba said this increase strengthens the urgency of providing additional infrastructure to ensure the convenience and affordability of services.

"Jatake Station is expected to absorb this surge in volume while encouraging a more even redistribution of passengers," Anne said in her statement, quoted on Friday, April 18.
