KCIC Adds 37,200 Seats During Christmas-New Year Holidays

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) has increased the availability of seats on the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train or Whoosh to 37,200 per day to anticipate a surge in passengers during the Christmas and New Year holidays (Nataru) 2025/2026.

General Manager Corporate Secretary PT KCIC Eva Chairunisa said the capacity increased from 28 thousand seats per day in the Nataru period last year.

KCIC predicts that the number of daily passengers on the Nataru holiday could reach 26 thousand people, up from last year's peak of 23,300 people per day.

The 2025/2026 Nataru transportation period is set to last for 18 days, from December 18, 2025 to January 4, 2026.

Eva said the surge in passengers is expected to occur on December 22, 2025 with an increase of around 10-25 percent compared to normal times, which is recorded at 16 thousand to 21 thousand passengers per day.

To support capacity increases, Eva said KCIC also increased the number of trips from 48 to 62 trips per day, with an arrival and/or departure interval between the next train or headway of 30 minutes.

"So every 30 minutes there is a schedule for the Whoosh train," said Eva as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 19.

In addition, as many as 688 service officers and 590 security officers will be deployed at stations, trains, and lines.

KCIC also prepares officers who will travel around the service area to help new passengers and provide information.

Eva urged passengers to pay more attention to their luggage during the journey, because the loss was the responsibility of the passenger.

"Usually at holiday moments, many passengers leave with their families so that the potential for lost items increases. We have prepared a lost and found system at the station, but luggage remains the responsibility of the passenger," he said.
