KCI Responses Regarding 3 KRL Users Positive For COVID-19

JAKARTA - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil revealed that three KRL passengers on the Bogor-Jakarta route were positive for COVID-19. This positive result is known based on the swab polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test on 325 passengers.

This incident made Kang Emil, as he is called, worried that the implementation of the Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) status, especially in the Jabodetabek area, was not running optimally. In fact, he said he could fail.

"This means that KRL which is still congested can be used as transportation for OTG (people without symptoms, ed) to carry the virus. PSBB can fail. (The results of this test, red) have been reported to the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19 and the Ministry of Transportation," said Kang Emil his Twitter account, Sunday, May 3.

He hopes that this incident will be of particular concern to related agencies. Among other things, by spraying. Because, if the case is not responded to quickly, it will be difficult to terminate the spread.

"Hopefully there will be a measured response from the KRL operator," he added.

In response to this, VP Corporate Communications of PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia Anne Purba said the three users were people without symptoms (OTG) who had never previously known that they were positive for COVID-19. This OTG case, said Anne, can be indicated everywhere.

"The spread of the virus itself can occur anywhere, including at work sites, in markets, as well as other possible locations where users visit," he said.

After all, continued Anne, the percentage of passengers infected and carrying the corona virus while using KRL was relatively small.

"It was found that 3 people or less than 1 percent of users tested positive. Even though the percentage is very low, we are still trying to improve various prevention efforts, especially those related to implementing the COVID-19 prevention program on public transportation," he explained.

Furthermore, during the COVID-19 emergency response period, PT KCI continued to take various anticipatory steps to combat the virus by checking body temperature, sinking at stations and having to use masks and other regulations.

Meanwhile, Ridwan Kamil and the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan have proposed to stop the operation of the KRL Jakarta Bogor Depok Tangerang Bekasi (Jabodetabek).

Even so, at that time the proposal was not accepted by the Minister of Ad Interim Transportation Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. The reason is, there are still many people who need KRL to go to work.
