Thousands of Miras Bottles Were Shredded in Banyumas, the Police Created a Safe Christmas and New Year 2026

PURWOKERTO - The Banyumas City Police (Polresta) has destroyed thousands of bottles of alcoholic beverages as a result of the Community Disease Operation (Pekat) as an effort to create a conducive situation ahead of the Christmas and New Year's Eve celebrations.

The destruction was carried out on the courtyard of the Banyumas Police Headquarters, Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Friday, December 19.

The evidence that was destroyed consisted of 1,879 bottles of alcoholic beverages of various brands, 1,587 liters of ciu, and 1,751 liters of tuak.

Banyumas Police Chief Kombes Ari Wibowo said that alcoholic beverages in bottles were destroyed by being washed with a steamwals, while ciu and tuak were poured into the water channel.

"This evidence of alcoholic beverages is the result of the seizure of the Operation Pekat from various regions in Banyumas Regency over the past month, before the implementation of the Lilin Operation," said Ari in Banyumas, Antara, Friday, December 19.

He explained that the action against the circulation of illegal alcoholic beverages was carried out simultaneously by all levels of the police sector in the legal area of the Banyumas Police.

"A total of 27 police stations carried out the Pekat Operation. The results were then collected here to be destroyed together," he said.

Ari said that the circulation of illegal alcoholic beverages was found in both urban and suburban areas. However, he admitted that there was a trend of decreasing the circulation of alcoholic beverages compared to the previous period.

According to him, this condition is inseparable from the increasing awareness of the community who actively report illegal activities to the police. He also appreciated the role of community leaders and youth leaders who also supported the smooth operation in the field.

"We see an increase in public participation in maintaining security and order. This is certainly very helpful for the performance of the police," said Ari.

The Banyumas Police Chief also appealed to the public to continue to play an active role in maintaining the situation of kamtibmas by reporting any potential disturbances through the police complaint service at number 110.

"The public's response is quite high. Many reports have been received through the 110 hotline and we have followed up on all of them. Don't hesitate to report if you see potential kamtibmas disturbances," he said.
