A Row of Luxury Toyota and Lexus Cars Recalled in Indonesia, Check the List
JAKARTA - PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) confirmed its commitment to maintaining the safety and comfort of customers through continuous improvement measures for vehicles that have been marketed in Indonesia. The company asked a number of owners of Toyota and Lexus models of certain production years to inspect components, at least three problems will be examined.
Vice President Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) Henry Tanoto, said that this step was taken to anticipate potential technical disruptions that could affect aspects of driving safety. TAM also asked car owners to check to official workshops in a program commonly known as recall or recall due to component problems in several models and different production years.
"As a Mobility Company, Toyota is committed to paying attention to all vehicles that have reached the hands of customers, especially if there is a potential for technical problems that affect safety. With all humility, we invite customers to check through the website, contact the call center, or come directly to the nearest official workshop," said Henry as quoted from the official Toyota website, Friday, December 19.
"The first inspection is on the instrument panel, namely the combination meter which displays various important vehicle information. However, there is a potential for programming errors that cause unnecessary data to be stored repeatedly, thus triggering an overload on the device's memory.
"The impact is that the monitor can turn off permanently when the vehicle is turned on (ignition-on). The safety risk increases because the driver does not get information from the speedometer or other warning indicators.
Safety risk: Affected models: Toyota Alphard (Feb 2023 – May 2025) Toyota Vellfire (Mar 2023 – May 2025) Toyota Camry (May 2024) Toyota Corolla Altis (Jun 2023 – Sep 2024) Toyota Corolla Cross (Sep 2023 – Jan 2024) Toyota GR Corolla (Jun 2023 – Sep 2024) Toyota GR Yaris (Mar 2024) Toyota RAV4 (Jan – Sep 2023) Lexus LBX (Sep 2023 – Oct 2024) Lexus LM (Apr 2023 – Apr 2025)
Second, the inspection of electric heaters in the HVAC system, which has the risk of disruption due to limited durability. When the vehicle is used in low temperatures, heaters and ice-melting systems may not function optimally. This condition can cause frost or fog on the windshield not to be completely removed, reducing visibility and increasing the risk of accidents.
"The last or third, namely the problem with the Parking Assist ECU component of the Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system, has the potential for software interference. In certain conditions, the rear view image of the vehicle can stop for a moment when the reverse gear is used, or even not appear on the next vehicle start-up. This adds to the risk of collision during reverse maneuvers.
