Police Investigate the Perpetrator who Placed a Bomb-Like Object at the GKPS Bandung Church

BANDUNG - The Bandung City Police are investigating the perpetrator who placed a bomb-like object in front of the Protestant Christian Church of Simalungun (GKPS), Kosambi, Bandung City.

The Head of the Bandung Police, Kombes Budi Sartono, said the situation at the scene had returned to a conducive state after being handled by the West Java Police's Bomb Disposal Team (Jibom).

"So we will immediately carry out the crime scene and find out who put the goods," said Budi in Bandung, Friday, December 19, reported by ANTARA.

Budi explained that although the object was confirmed not to be an explosive and not to endanger the community, the police would still conduct further investigations to find out who put it there.

"The point is, after this we immediately took over because it was not a dangerous item or suspected explosive material," he said.

He emphasized that the police did not find any bombs or explosives in the suspicious object.

"The results of the examination by the Jibom Brimob team of the West Java Police showed that the object was wood," he said.

Regarding the possibility of the Terrorism Law being imposed on the perpetrators, he said his party could not confirm it and was still waiting for the results of further investigations.

"Later we will see first, whether there is indeed a deliberate placement here or what the form and meaning are," he said.

Budi added that the police would continue to collect evidence and ask for information from witnesses around the scene. The investigation was carried out with the involvement of a number of supporting units.

"What is certain is that the police, assisted by the Polda and Brimob, will find as many witnesses and evidence as possible. In this shop, there is quite a lot of activity, so we will start by finding witnesses," he said.

Previously, a bomb-like object was found by residents around 08.30 WIB. Residents then reported the findings to the police after seeing a cable with various colors on the object.

Not long after, the police came to the location to carry out security, evacuate the area, and ask the public to stay away from the crime scene.
