KSAD: Let Us Know If There Are Areas Affected by the Sumatra Disaster That Have Not Been Touched by Aid

JAKARTA - The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (KSAD) General Maruli Simanjuntak asked the public and media personnel to inform his party about which areas in Aceh or Sumatra had not been touched by government assistance.

"If there are any shortcomings, there must be many shortcomings. Please inform us," said Maruli at a press conference at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, East Jakarta, Friday, quoted by Antara.

According to Maruli, this information is very useful because it will help the TNI AD accelerate the recovery of disaster areas.

According to him, to date, thousands of his soldiers have been working in the field since the beginning of the disaster handling period in Sumatra and Aceh.

The work carried out ranges from evacuating residents, cleaning the road from mud, distributing aid logistics and installing emergency bridges or bailey bridges.

All the work done by his soldiers, according to Maruli, deserves to be appreciated because they have given their best.

Therefore, Maruli hopes that all the hard work will not be considered as a matter of course just because the distribution of assistance to disaster areas is considered less optimal.

"So let's give strength to those who are affected by disasters. Give us who work strength. Don't be sad about the members," said Maruli.

"It has been working day and night. Even the other deployment is billed. How do you feel if you are in that position? Not me, my members," he continued.

Maruli also reiterated that his party was open to all information from the media and the public.

He asked the public to continue to support and provide information about which areas have not been touched by assistance so that the TNI AD can handle it.

"So please, people like this, we have to be compact, a country. Your role is extraordinary media. Raise the morale of the community, raise us who work," he said.
