Residents Can't Be Free to Own, Government Makes Rules for Flood Logs in Sumatra
JAKARTA - The government has prepared a regulatory umbrella related to the use of logs carried away by floods in Sumatra to support the acceleration of post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction in three affected provinces.
The statement was made by the Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, at a press conference to recover the post-disaster situation at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, Friday, December 19.
"A few days after the disaster in three provinces, the Ministry of Forestry has issued a circular addressed to all provincial governments and sub-district/sub-district governments regarding the use of wood," he said in a question and answer session on floodwood from the Sumatra flood. , quoted by Antara.
He said the rules were drafted to ensure the orderly, coordinated, and appropriate use of natural resources.
He explained that the circular regulates the mechanism for using wood that can be used for the purpose of rehabilitation, including the construction of temporary and permanent housing for affected people.
According to him, the regulation has been socialized to regional governments at all levels so that its implementation runs in harmony in the field.
He emphasized that the use of wood by the community is possible, but must be through coordination with the local government according to their respective authorities.
"So, if the community wants to use it, of course it will be coordinated with the relevant government at every level," he said.
