Airlangga Suggests WFA during Nataru, PU Minister: We are Hard, This is a Hard Season

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo ensures that there is no implementation of Work From Anywhere (WFA) or work from anywhere for PU Ministry employees.

This responds to the proposal of Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto who asked for a WFA policy during the Christmas holidays 2025 and New Year 2026 (Nataru 2025/2026) to President Prabowo Subianto, not long ago.

According to Dody, at times like this, his employees will work extra because it is the rainy season and extreme weather.

"Basically, if PU doesn't have WFA. It seems that PU is difficult if WFA because this is the season when we work hard in PU, yes. PU is hard because this, right, the season of ber, ber, ber, the season of disaster," said Dody in a media briefing on the Preparedness of the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 Holiday Infrastructure in the PU Ministry Auditorium, Jakarta, Thursday, December 18.

Dody said that all regions in Indonesia have the potential to face extreme weather at the end of the year until early 2026. For this reason, he said, the Ministry of PU must be ready to face the potential for disasters due to extreme weather.

"This, it's a disaster season everywhere. Not only in Sumatra and Aceh, but in all places if we see. Every day there are floods, landslides. So, it seems that we don't have WFA," he added.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto proposed the implementation of the WFA scheme during the 2025/2026 Christmas holiday to President Prabowo Subianto.

According to Airlangga, the WFA policy is considered important to maintain the smoothness of community mobility while encouraging economic growth in the last quarter of this year.

The proposal was greeted positively with applause from ministers and President Prabowo Subianto in the Plenary Cabinet Meeting at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday, December 15.

"We propose because the dates 29, 30, 31 are among the holidays, sir. We propose WFA and everywhere, sir," he said.

He said that the policy aims to increase community movement and consumption during the 2025/2026 Nataru period.

Even so, Airlangga admitted that the President might still schedule a meeting at Hambalang.
