Megawati ordered Rp2 billion donation for victims of the Sumatra disaster, Pramono: Sami'na wa Atho'na
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung responded to the request of the General Chair of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri to donate Rp2 billion for victims of flooding and landslides in Sumatra.
With a short answer, Pramono replied that he had known Megawati's instructions. Pramono said the Arabic language which means "we hear and we obey".
"Sami'na wa atho'na," Pramono replied when met in Menteng, Central Jakarta, Thursday, December 18.
Some time ago, Pramono revealed that the DKI Provincial Government had sent assistance several times to residents affected by floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
In fact, the former Cabinet Secretary admitted that he had also donated to disaster victims from his personal pocket.
From the DKI Provincial Government, the first aid was sent on Sunday, November 30. The aid includes thousands of ready-to-eat meals, blankets, children's supplies, basic necessities, to clean water tanks. The DKI Provincial Government then sent money again on Saturday, December 6.
The DKI Provincial Government, continued Pramono, sent aid for the third time. The aid was in the form of portable toilets which will be sent to Aceh Tamiang Regency
"The first thing that was sent was. Then there was a cash delivery. I don't want to announce this kind of thing," said Pramono in Srengseng Sawah, South Jakarta, Tuesday, December 9.
As previously reported, Megawati Soekarnoputri asked Pramono Anung to donate Rp2 billion in fundraising for victims of flooding and landslides in Sumatra.
The request was conveyed directly by Megawati in front of cadres during the Mother's Day Commemoration at the Nyi Ageng Serang Building, South Jakarta.
The moment occurred when Megawati climbed the stage with the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno to distribute tree seedlings to female heads of PDI-P cadres. After the photo session, Rano launched a shout for Megawati to sing.
Megawati chose not to sing directly and took the microphone to convey a short message to the women.
Megawati stated that she was willing to sing if accompanied by a large donation for disaster victims in Sumatra. He assessed that the nominal donation collected by PDIP previously was not enough.
"Continue, I whisper to you, do you want to ask how much the donation is? He said it was half a billion. Why half a billion? I don't want to sing. Come on, my mothers challenged me earlier, he said Rp1 billion," said Megawati.
Rano then said Pramono had expressed his commitment to donate. "The Governor called, the Governor donated Rp. 1 billion," Rano added.
Hearing this, Megawati immediately raised the figure. He gave an open order to Pramono to increase donations to Rp. 2 billion.
"Cook Rp1 billion? If that's the case, I'll say this, the General Chairperson ordered the Governor of DKI to donate Rp2 billion. Come on, sing. That's why don't be lazy to be a woman. Especially if I nari, it will go up again (contribution). I'm smart at nari, loh," said Megawati.
