Estimated Passenger Flow for Christmas and New Year to Reach 237.000, Hang Nadim Airport in Batam Establishes Command Post
JAKARTA - The management of Hang Nadim Batam International Airport (BIB) in Batam, Riau Islands (Kepri), has established an integrated Christmas and New Year (Nataru) post for the 2025/2026 holiday season to ensure the smooth flow of travelers and return travelers during the year-end holidays.
PT BIB Operations Director Anton Marthalius stated that the Nataru post will be open from December 18, 2025, to January 4, 2026.
"The peak season will begin on December 21, 2025, with passenger traffic expected to reach 237,000 passengers. An estimated 15,000 passengers per day during this Christmas and New Year period," he said in Batam on Thursday, as reported by Antara.
He further stated that the return flow is expected to begin on January 4, 2026.
He stated that BIB has prepared all facilities to ensure their proper functioning and has added personnel to anticipate emergencies.
Anton stated that Batam's Hang Nadim International Airport has also received 140 additional flight requests for the year-end holiday period.
"That's what we've received. The actual number of flights could increase or decrease. We hope the homecoming flow will be smooth and the weather will be safe for flights," he said.
One of the key areas of focus for the Nataru Post is information on airline departure delays, which will enable airlines and the team to prepare anticipatory measures should such an event occur.
Furthermore, the focus is on reducing or preventing passenger congestion at Batam's Hang Nadim International Airport during the Nataru holiday period.
"We hope these thorough preparations will ensure a comfortable stay during the Nataru holiday season. We encourage travelers to arrive early to avoid missing their flights," Anton said.
