People with Acidic Urat Increasing, Including Young People!

JAKARTA - People with gout are reported to have increased in recent years. Gout is a joint inflammation that occurs when the uric acid level in the blood is too high, and forms sharp crystals in the joints, which can cause pain to swelling.

Previously, gout was often associated with alcohol consumption and certain foods. However, currently gout attacks more widely, which makes the case increase.

Quoted from Times of India, on Thursday, December 18, 2025, millions of people experience gout, and that number will continue to increase. Global studies show that in the past 20 years gout cases have increased by more than 60 percent.

The study also predicts that the number of people with gout will continue to soar by 2050. This is due to population aging, obesity, as well as unhealthy diets and lifestyles.

The disease is now not only attacking the elderly, but also young people. The increase in cases occurs in adolescents and young adults, especially in areas with high rates of overweight.

"The incidence and global prevalence of gout have increased significantly, reflecting demographic shifts and increasing comorbidity rates," notes JMIR Public Health and Surveillance.

With the increase in cases, it is highly recommended that the public make lifestyle changes so that gout can be prevented and controlled.

One of them is by drinking enough water so that the kidneys help remove uric acid from the body. Light to moderate exercise on a regular basis such as walking, swimming, cycling, is also recommended to prevent the occurrence of gout.
