Motorcyclist Killed by Minitrans Bus, Transjakarta Submits Legal Process to Police

JAKARTA - PT Transjakarta management spoke out about the incident where a motorcyclist fell on Jalan Pakubuwono, South Jakarta and was hit by a Transjakarta Minitrans bus to death. Transjakarta handed over the handling of this legal case to the police.

"Currently, the case is being handled by the Traffic Police of the Metro Jaya Police," said Head of the Public Relations and CSR Department of Transjakarta, Ayu Wardhani, in her statement, Thursday, December 18.

From the accident involving a non-BRT Transjakarta bus on the highway, Ayu expressed condolences for the death of the victim.

"Transjakarta expresses its deepest condolences for the death of the motorcyclist, who was involved in an incident with the Koantas Bima (KBM 220020) minitrans bus route 8E operator," said Ayu.

For information, a motorcyclist was killed after an accident on Jalan Pakubuwono direction east, precisely near the Tanam Gigi Building, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, December 17 at around 05.30 WIB. In the video seen, the victim had previously fallen at the bend, then was hit by a Minitrans coming from behind the victim.

The Head of the Traffic Police's Gakkum Sub-Directorate, AKBP Ojo Ruslani, explained that the victim was named M. Akmal Haikal (21), a resident of Petukangan Utara, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta. Meanwhile, the Minitrans bus was driven by Waryanto (47), a resident of Ciracas, East Jakarta.

"While walking because of lack of caution, and concentration while driving. Finally, the Honda Beat motorcycle driven by Akmal Haikal slipped and fell," said AKBP Ojo Ruslani in his statement.

Ojo explained, shortly after falling, a Minitrans bus came from behind and did not have time to avoid Akmal Haikal.

"Not long after, from behind came a Minitrans bus. Because the distance was too close, the bus driver couldn't avoid it until he hit the motorcycle that had fallen," said

As a result of the accident, the victim suffered serious head injuries and was declared dead at the scene of the crime (TKP).

"The victim suffered injuries and died at the scene, the body was then taken to Fatmawati Hospital for further examination," he concluded.
