Wrong Arrest Leads to Aiptu K's Patsus, Blitar Police Chief Apologizes
BLITAR - The Blitar Police, East Java, carried out disciplinary enforcement against a number of police officers related to the alleged case of wrongful arrest. One of the members has even been subjected to special placement (patsus) for the sake of internal examination.
Blitar Police Chief AKBP Arif Fazlurrahman said the implementation of the disciplinary hearing was a form of Blitar Police's commitment to upholding discipline and professionalism of members.
"The results of this disciplinary hearing are linked to the wrong arrest. This is one form of commitment," said Arif in Blitar, Antara, Thursday, December 18.
He explained that the Blitar Police had processed disciplinary hearings for the parties reported based on Police Report Number: LP/03/XI/2025/Sipropam, in accordance with applicable regulations. This step was taken as a form of transparency and accountability for enforcing internal police discipline.
In the implementation of the disciplinary hearing held at the Blitar Police, the reporter with the initials F was also present and was accompanied by a legal advisor as part of the openness of the process of handling the case.
"In handling the case, the suspect with the initials Aiptu K was placed under special placement or patsus for the sake of examination," he said.
In addition to being subject to patsus, Aiptu K has also been transferred from the function of criminal investigation to the level of police station as a step to maintain neutrality during the examination process. Meanwhile, the other three respondents also underwent the disciplinary process according to the mechanisms in the police environment.
The Police Chief added that his party also carried out a thorough evaluation after the alleged arrest, especially regarding the procedures for handling cases so that in the future they will be more careful.
"This is an evaluation for the Blitar Police to improve public services in terms of law enforcement," said Arif.
On this occasion, the Blitar Police Chief also apologized for the disciplinary violations committed by his members, as well as apologized to the parties who were harmed by actions that were considered unprofessional.
The apology was specifically conveyed to brother F and his family, who were initially designated as suspected perpetrators based on initial information, but in the subsequent process were not proven.
Arif emphasized that the incident was a momentum for the Blitar Police to carry out internal improvement and performance improvement, especially in serving the community and implementing law enforcement.
"In the future, the Blitar Police are committed to continue to make improvements to prevent similar incidents from recurring and to improve the quality of service that is more professional, objective, and humanistic," he said.
