No Longer in Tents, Prabowo Promises Temporary Housing for Agam Residents to be Completed in a Month
AGAM - President Prabowo Subianto has targeted the construction of temporary housing for disaster victims in Salareh Aia Village, Agam Regency, West Sumatra, to be completed within one month.
"I am happy to see that temporary housing has started to be built, it can be completed in a month," said Prabowo when reviewing the location and meeting local residents, Antara, Thursday, December 18.
The President said that with the completion of the temporary housing, residents are expected to no longer have to live in refugee tents. The government, he said, wants to ensure that affected people can immediately live in a more decent place.
After the temporary housing is completed, the government will also continue to build permanent housing for disaster victims. Prabowo said that the permanent housing was designed with good quality and adequate size.
"Then immediately after that we will build permanent housing. It is seen that it is quite good in quality, the size of the permanent housing is also quite large, 70 square meters," said Prabowo.
On that occasion, the Head of State expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in disaster management and recovery of conditions in the Agam area. According to him, the TNI and Polri, Basarnas, as well as the central and regional government have worked together shoulder to shoulder to help the community.
The President also praised the spirit of the people, including mothers and children, who still welcomed him warmly in the midst of the post-disaster conditions.
Prabowo emphasized that the government would continue to monitor the situation and think about further steps to improve the living conditions of affected people.
"We are able to overcome everything together. You are not alone, we all think every day about how we can improve the situation of our brothers," said the President.
President Prabowo arrived in West Sumatra, Wednesday, to review a number of areas affected by floods and landslides. In addition to Agam Regency, the President is also scheduled to review the disaster location in Padang Pariaman and Tanah Datar.
