Pramono Challenges Gen Z to Find Solutions to Jakarta's Garbage and Traffic

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said he would hold a special competition for Generation Z to find solutions to two classic problems in Jakarta, namely garbage and congestion.

Pramono said the competition for young people would be packaged in the form of a hackathon or competition for program or innovation preparation. promising prizes that are considered relevant to the character of Gen Z, including the opportunity to see the world's major cities.

This was conveyed by Pramono in the launch of the Gig Economy training program for Gen Z and the Soft Launching of the AI Innovation Challenge which was also attended by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.

"I will use it for the perpetrators in this hackathon, the treasure is a solution to waste or a solution to congestion, as a global city. Basically this is for Gen Z," said Pramono at the Jakarta Creative Hub, Central Jakarta, Thursday, December 18.

Pramono said the competition would be open for two months. The innovation competition for Gen Z was held as part of a series of preparations to welcome the 500th anniversary of Jakarta.

Pramono also immediately asked his staff to prepare a race mechanism which will be presented in full in the future. To the winners, Pramono promised a prize of a visit abroad.

"Basically the prize is interesting and we will facilitate to see the world. The prize for the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place, the 1st, 2nd will definitely facilitate us to see the world. Whether it's seeing Beijing, New York, and so on, we will facilitate it," he said.

According to Pramono, this step is in line with Jakarta's efforts to achieve the target of becoming one of the 50 global cities.

Pramono also touched on Jakarta's economic role, which is still dominant nationally. He said Jakarta's contribution to the national gross domestic product (GDP) reached 16.39 percent, with economic growth of 5.04 percent in the third quarter.

"As a city that contributes 16.39 percent to GDP, and Jakarta is now growing 5.04 percent in the third quarter, of course we really hope to be able to synergize with the central government," he said.

On that occasion, Pramono also highlighted the development of the gig economy, which is considered increasingly significant. Based on the latest statistical data, this sector has been utilized by almost 2.5 million people.

He also opened the opportunity for the central government to use Jakarta as the location for various agendas and activities in the future.

"So for that, Mr. Coordinating Minister, if later Mr. Coordinating Minister and Mr. Minister want to hold an event in Jakarta, we are willing to be the host completely. Use the spaces owned by the Government of Jakarta," he concluded.
