Prabowo's dialogue with high school students in Agam: I want to be a soldier, ask for the direction of the Minister of Defense and the name of the Mensesneg is wrong
AGAM - President Prabowo Subianto visited Agam Regency, West Sumatra, Thursday, December 18 to see firsthand the condition of residents affected by the disaster. In a meeting with the community, Prabowo ensured that the construction of temporary housing was underway and was targeted to be completed in about a month.
The target, said President Prabowo, is that residents no longer have to live in tents. After the temporary housing is completed, the government will continue to build permanent housing. President Prabowo assessed that the quality and size of the planned housing were quite suitable to be occupied.
He admitted that the condition of the residents was still worrying. However, President Prabowo said that the situation was beginning to improve thanks to the hard work of all parties on the ground.
"We are working hard to quickly restore the situation," said Prabowo.
Prabowo expressed his appreciation to the TNI, Polri, Basarnas, as well as the central and regional government who have been at the affected locations since the first day. He emphasized that all elements worked together to improve the situation.
The atmosphere of the meeting then melted when Prabowo interacted directly with the residents. He asked who the officials who accompanied him were. The residents quickly and loudly mentioned the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, the TNI Commander, the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.
Prabowo then appointed a student who was able to correctly name the Minister of Defense. The child admitted that he was still in high school class two and aspired to be a soldier.
"Oh, you want to be a soldier. It's worth memorizing the name of the Minister of Defense," said Prabowo.
Prabowo then asked the Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin who was at the location to give directions to the student.
"You ask for guidance from him. Give guidance," said Prabowo, greeted with laughter and applause from the public.
Another interesting moment occurred when Prabowo asked the name of the Minister of State Secretary. A number of residents had mentioned the name "Pratikno", before Prabowo straightened out that Pratikno had become the Coordinating Minister and the current Minister of State Secretary was Prasetyo Hadi. The error triggered laughter and showed a fluid dialogue atmosphere.
Prabowo also mentioned the presence of other officials, including local government elements and representatives, who accompanied the visit. However, he emphasized that the main purpose of his arrival was not just to see from a distance.
"We came to see, to give encouragement, and to convey that you are not alone," said Prabowo.
President Prabowo closed the meeting by stressing that the government would continue to work and think about the recovery of the condition of the people every day, until the situation was completely recovered.
