Yusril: Perpol 10/2025 Controversy to Enter the Agenda of the National Police Reform Commission
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Legal, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra stated that the National Police Reform Acceleration Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (Polri) will discuss the polemics that have developed regarding the Police Regulation (Perpol) Number 10 of 2025.
The perpol issued by the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo regulates the implementation of the duties of members of the National Police outside the police organizational structure, especially assignments in 17 ministries and state institutions.
"There will be a continuation of the meeting of the Commission for the Acceleration of the Police Reform at the State Secretariat Building, Jalan Veteran, to discuss this," Yusril said in his statement, Wednesday, December 17.
According to Yusril, the meeting will accommodate and discuss various inputs that have been submitted to the commission regarding the agenda of the reform of the National Police, including the dynamics and public debate that emerged following the issuance of the Perpol as a follow-up to the Constitutional Court's decision.
He admitted that he had considered the views expressed by a number of members of the National Police Reform Acceleration Commission, including Mahfud MD, as well as the Chairman of the National Police Reform Acceleration Commission Jimly Asshiddiqie, regarding the regulation.
However, Yusril emphasized that he could not convey his personal attitude because of his position as a member of the commission which was in the government structure.
"In government, of course, coordination is needed to discuss this issue comprehensively and in the best possible way," he said.
In addition, Yusril said that the discussion regarding Perpol 10/2025 is also still coordinated by the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs together with the Ministry of State Secretariat, the Ministry of Law, and other related ministries.
Although he has not taken a stance, Yusril ensured that all views that have developed in society will be a serious concern for the National Police Reform Acceleration Commission.
"All things related to police reform are the commission's task to be discussed and formulated," he said.
He added that the results of the discussion would later be written in the form of recommendations submitted to President Prabowo Subianto as a consideration in decision-making.
"Including regarding the structure of the country's police, whether or not there is a need to change the law, that is the president's authority. We are tasked with drafting and submitting recommendations," said Yusril.
