LIMA PULUH KOTA - The government has begun to realize the construction of temporary housing (huntara) for disaster-affected people in a number of areas in West Sumatra as part of efforts to accelerate post-disaster recovery.

Based on data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the construction of the huntara is carried out gradually in several districts and cities. In South Coast Regency, the construction of the huntara is located in Jorong Taratak Teleng, Nagari Puluik-Puluik, which is currently still in the preparation stage of implementation with the land maturation process.

"Currently the land maturation process. Phase I allocation for 73 families," said the BNPB report, Wednesday, December 17.

Meanwhile, in Lima Puluh Kota Regency, the implementation of huntara construction has begun since December 15, 2025. Construction is carried out using a kopel or barracks format as a temporary housing solution for affected residents.

"Phase I has started with 60 families, namely units in the kopel or barracks format. The capacity in one kopel or barracks is five units, so the target for the initial phase of construction is 12 kopel or barracks," wrote BNPB in its report.

The construction of the huntara is also carried out in Padang Pariaman Regency and Agam Regency. Currently, both locations are still in the land preparation stage. BNPB noted that heavy equipment, materials, and TNI personnel were already in place to support the acceleration of work in the field.

For Padang City, BNPB said that the proposal for the construction of the huntara was still in the process of being drafted. Meanwhile, some of the affected residents have been temporarily housed in the Kampung Nelayan apartment, Koto Tangah District.

Especially in Lima Lima City Regency, BNPB noted that the physical progress of the huntara construction continued. As of December 17, 2025, the land that had been cleaned or cleared reached approximately 4,700 square meters, or about 75 percent of the land that could be matured. In addition, the installation of floor bouplank work has been carried out in two barracks, while another barracks is entering the floor casting stage with a progress of about 90 percent.
