Semantara Victims' Flood Housing Begins to be Built in Pidie
BANDA ACEH - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) stated that temporary housing for flood disaster victims in Aceh Province has begun to be built.
Head of the BNPB Disaster Information and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, said the construction of the temporary residence was carried out in Tangse, Pidie Regency.
"The construction of temporary housing in Pidie Regency has begun. The temporary housing is for 12 families affected by the flood in the area," said Abdul Muhari as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 17.
Apart from Pidie Regency, the temporary housing construction is also proposed by the Central Aceh Regency Government and the Gayo Lues Regency Government.
For these areas, he said, the location and land ownership status are being reviewed. The location must be free of disasters such as floods and landslides and the land belongs to the local government.
"If the land does not belong to the local government, the status must also be clear, whether it is donated or borrowed. The goal is to prevent land disputes later," he said.
According to Abdul Muhari, the temporary residence is intended for flood victims whose houses are lost or severely damaged and cannot return home because there is no place to stay.
"Temporary housing until permanent housing is built. Temporary housing to move flood victims in the evacuation so that they have a more decent place to live until there is permanent housing," he said.
Regarding the total number of deaths in the disaster in Aceh Province, Abdul Muhari said that the total as of Wednesday (16/12) reached 451 people. Meanwhile, in North Sumatra reached 364 people, and West Sumatra as many as 244 people.
"For today, there are six additional deaths, two in Aceh and four in North Sumatra. So the total number of deaths is 1,059 people," he said.
Regarding refugees as a whole, said Abdul Muhari, as many as 588,226 or down 17,814 people from the previous day reached 606,040 people.
"We are also continuing to work to accelerate the establishment of an integrated evacuation point before the construction of temporary housing. This integrated evacuation is to facilitate the distribution of logistics distribution, both food and non-food," said Abdul Muhari.
