SEA Games 2025: Losing 0-2 to Thailand, the Indonesian Women's National Team Failed to Win Bronze

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Women's National Team failed to win a bronze medal at the 2025 SEA Games. This situation occurred after Garuda Pertiwi suffered a 0-2 defeat when facing Thailand at Chonburi Stadium, Wednesday, December 16, 2025, afternoon WIB.

From the start, Akira Higashiyama's troops were pressured by Thailand. The effort lasted 15 minutes.

The reason is that in the 17th minute the Indonesian defense collapsed as well. The score changed to 1-0 for Thailand through Rhianne Rush's execution.

After falling behind, Garuda Pertiwi's playing tempo began to increase, but Thailand even increased their lead in the 43rd minute through Pattaranan Aupachai and at the same time made a 2-0 lead in the first half.

Moving to the second half, Akira made changes with the entry of Rosdilah and Claudia Scheunemann which made the Indonesian Women's National Team's game more daring.

He got one chance at the start of the match, but his shot at the goal was still sideways. In the 77th minute, Aulia Al Mabruroh almost scored the opening goal, but his shot was right at the goalkeeper so it was easily broken.

Garuda Pertiwi's attacks were still blunt, while Thailand was also unable to add a goal due to their poor finishing. Until the second half ended, the score of 2-0 for Thailand's victory remained.

With this result, Thailand managed to get a bronze medal, while Indonesia failed to bring home a medal from this event.

However, the struggle of the Indonesian Women's National Team players at the 2025 SEA Games deserves appreciation for being able to step up to the third place even without a national competition.
