Adaptation and Sincerity Are the Way Ade Govinda Defies the Stigma of the Age of Musicians to Produce Hit Songs
Ade Govinda proved that age is not a limit in working, especially in creating hit songs.
Responding to the stigma that says musicians over 40 years old are difficult to produce popular works, Ade Govinda emphasized that adaptation and sincerity are the main keys.
This statement came in the midst of his collaboration with a young singer from Malaysia, Aisha Retno, in their latest single, "Semoga Saja".
Ade, who is currently 41 years old, admitted that there are many stigmas that are heard related to the age limit for creativity for a musician, especially a songwriter.
"There are also those who say that once you get married you can't make hit songs. That's a lot," said Ade when met in Cilandak, South Jakarta recently.
However, Ade does not want to just confirm the stigma. A proactive step to collaborate with young musicians like Aisha is one of the ways he is trying.
According to him, the essence of being a musician is how someone stimulates the brain to develop something. In the context of songwriting, it means the ability to hyperbolize a problem or a feeling into a work.
"So, I think, as long as we make it still from the heart, sincere, and pray, yes, it seems there is no (age limit). How old you want to be, you can still work," he said.
In collaboration with Aisha Retno, a musician known for her touching ballad songs, he acknowledged the need for adaptation. He didn't want to impose the old style, but rather followed Aisha's taste and style of music.
"The essence of it all is just adaptation," concluded Ade.
