Garuda in My Heart Film Comes in Animation Format

JAKARTA - Base Entertainment together with Kawi Animation are working together to bring the film Garuda in My Heart, one of the iconic family films of its time. Through its latest version, they have an animated format to start this journey.

The Base partnered with Ronny Gani, an animator who has worked on many Hollywood films. Garuda in My Heart is his first debut as a director.

"I met him during the pandemic. I was quarantined in Singapore and Mas Ronny worked at an animation company in Singapore. At that time, I had just finished making a series for Netflix, then I was quarantined and someone DM (direct message). We chatted, met finally chatting for an hour, three hours about Indonesian animation," said producer Shanty Harmayn about meeting Ronny Gani at a press conference in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, December 17.

"We believe that we are looking for a point of strength so that our films can compete with foreign animations which, incidentally, have been enjoyed by Indonesian audiences first. Those chosen from the craftmanship side do not place too much emphasis on cultural power and what must be presented is relatibilitas and world building," said Ronny Gani.

Producer Aoura Chandra added, "We have a big dream that Indonesia must be our host and hopefully it will be the initial project of Indonesian IP and Indonesian animated films to be winners in their own home."

The first teaser released shows the interaction of Putra (played by Keanu Azka) who wants to become a football player. He is helped by a round bird named Gaga (Kristo Immanuel) who helps him to become a champion.

In addition, the film is also voiced by Quinn Salman and Revalina S. Temat. Previously, several names such as Rizky Ridho, Sal Priadi, Oki Rengga, Zee Asadel, Revalina S Temat, Ringgo Agus Rahman, Ibnu Jamil, Emir Mahira and Bima Sena were also announced to fill this film.

"I feel very happy to be trusted to play Putra. This is the first time I've been an animated voice actor and it's hard, pretty hard. Fortunately, I was helped by Mr. Ronny and my voice coach as well. So it helped me know more about oh Putra gini gini gininya," said Keanu Azka.

Meanwhile, the animated film Garuda in My Heart is planned to be released in 2026.
