Boris Johnson Named His Son After The Doctor Who Treated Him When He Contracted COVID-19
JAKARTA - British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his fiancée, Carrie Symonds, recently had a son. Johnson named his son Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas.
Symonds announced the name on Saturday, May 2, on his Instagram account. She thanked the maternity staff of the University College London Hospital.
"I couldn't be happier. My heart is full," said Symonds.
This name feels special for Johnson. Because, the name was taken as a tribute to the doctor who treated and saved Johnson's life from COVID-19. Johnson is known to have contracted the corona virus and was treated last April.
Johnson's baby boy was born on April 29, 2020. The name Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas is taken from a mixture of three names. "Wilfred" is the name of Johnson's grandfather, "Lawrie" is the name of Symonds' grandfather.
Then, the name "Nicholas" was taken from the two doctors who saved Johnson's life while undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at St Thomas Hospital last month, namely Nick Price and Nick Hart.
Johnson is known to have returned to work on Monday, April 27, after being declared recovered from COVID-19, which left him seriously ill in intensive care at the height of the coronavirus outbreak.
He thanked the doctors at St Thomas' Hospital for recovering him. "My life was saved, no more questions," said Johnson.
