SHINee's Key Admits to Being a Victim of Illegal Doctor, Leaving TV Show

JAKARTA - Key SHINee finally spoke up about the rumor that he was one of the clients of an illegal medical service carried out by someone named Lee or known as Injection Auntie. Previously, Lee's name was known for being friends with comedian Park Na Rae.

After Park Na Rae, the names of Key and Onew SHINee were said to have received illegal medical services from the same person. Lee often shared interactions with the two members.

Last week, Park Na Rae and Onew released a statement regarding the news. Park Na Rae's agency denied it while Onew explained that he had been a patient in 2022 but not for IV injections.

Key became the talk of the town after Lee's social media showed Key's pet dog's photo, messages from the artist, and other things.

Wednesday, December 17, SM Entertainment apologized for only giving an explanation because when this issue was circulating, Key was finishing his concert tour in the United States.

"At the recommendation of a friend, Key visited the hospital in Gangnam where Lee worked and was introduced as a doctor. Key continued to receive treatment at the hospital and several times when it was difficult to visit the hospital, he received treatment at home," said SM Entertainment.

"Because he believed Lee was a doctor and didn't look suspicious, Key didn't realize that home treatment could be a problem. In the midst of the controversy over Lee's medical license, Key only found out that Lee was not a licensed doctor. He was very confused about his lack of self-awareness," he said.

Therefore, Key decided to quit several television shows he starred in, namely I Live Alone, Amazing Saturday, and The Closet Detective. He also resigned from his position as a presenter for the 2025 MBC Entertainment Awards.

At the same time, Key also wrote an apology through his Instagram account. He apologized for not giving an explanation when the rumors started to circulate.

"I am also confused and shocked by the facts that have been revealed and I apologize for not making a quick decision and explaining it. I have always prided myself on being far from such issues, but I am sorry and ashamed of the people who believe in and support me," Key wrote.

"I will do whatever wisely regarding this matter. Once again, I will take time to reflect on myself and my surroundings. Once again, I am very sorry," Key concluded.
