ChatGPT Soon to be Integrated with Apple Music, AI Potentially Set iPhone and Mac Users' Playlists

JAKARTA - ChatGPT is preparing to expand its role in the Apple ecosystem with the potential for integration into Apple Music, which allows the artificial intelligence to help manage and personalize iPhone and Mac user playlists. This information emerged from the Substack CEO's OpenAI Applications, Fidji Simo, who mentioned the expansion of third-party application support within ChatGPT.

In the post, Simo mentioned Apple Music as one of the applications that will soon be included in the ChatGPT integration directory, along with other big names such as Adobe, Salesforce, Replit, OpenTable, and Airtable. He emphasized that developers will also be given space to submit their applications so that they can connect directly with OpenAI's AI service.

Although it has not been explained in detail, the integration of ChatGPT with Apple Music is expected to offer capabilities similar to those that have already been present on Spotify. Currently, Spotify users can ask ChatGPT to create a playlist based on mood, a certain activity, or adjust to existing music tastes, then open the results directly in the application. This feature uses listening patterns, favorite artists, and user history to suggest music and podcasts more personally.

Apple Music has provided various APIs that allow the creation and management of playlists through third-party applications. Therefore, analysts assess that it is unlikely that ChatGPT will have access that goes far beyond Spotify integration, but rather focuses on intelligent curation based on natural language commands.

This plan also strengthens OpenAI's relationship with the Apple ecosystem, which has become closer in the past year. ChatGPT is now integrated with Siri to handle complex requests, used in application development through Xcode, and supports audio recording and transcription features on macOS for paid users. In the latest generation of iOS, Apple even allows Image Playground to forward user requests to ChatGPT.

On the other hand, signs of further expansion are also beginning to be seen. In December, the Apple Health icon was reportedly hidden in the ChatGPT app for iOS, sparking speculation that OpenAI was exploring access to user health and fitness data, although there has been no official confirmation.

For Apple, this collaboration adds value to AI without having to build all the capabilities from scratch. For OpenAI, the integration of Apple Music strengthens its strategy of being present in users' daily activities. If realized, choosing a song can be simpler: just say the mood, let the AI be the DJ. The digital world is more practical, a little absurd, but definitely more personal.
