Different Market Strategy with Indonesia, Jaecoo J5 Comes in a Gasoline Version with a More Expensive Price in Malaysia
JAKARTA - Unlike the Indonesian automotive market, which is present with BEV variants, Jaecoo actually presents a gasoline or ICE version for the J5 model in Malaysia.
Citing the Paultan website, Wednesday, December 17, this Chinese brand has opened orders for the J5 ICE in the country, indicating that its launch will be carried out in the near future.
Malaysia will get the J5 with a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 147 PS and 210 Nm, driving the front wheels through a continuously variable (CVT) transmission.
In terms of specifications, this car comes with a length of 4,380 mm, a width of 1,860 mm, and a height of 1,650 mm and a wheelbase of 2,620 mm, and is 10 mm longer than its competitor Honda HR-V.
From the exterior, this car offers a bold and modern design. There are several differences compared to the BEV version, including in the front. For the BEV version, it does not get a firm grille.
On the interior, the Jaecoo J5 is equipped with an eight-inch driver instrument display and a 13.2-inch infotainment touch screen with 2K resolution, as well as support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with a karaoke function that is sold separately.
Additional facilities offered at J5 also include anti-bacterial and scratch-resistant seat upholstery that is claimed to be pet-friendly. In terms of safety and assistance equipment, J5 gets a series of ADAS features.
Talking about the price, it is estimated that this car will be priced starting from 120,000 ringgit or Rp. 490 million. A fairly high figure, considering that in Indonesia the BEV version alone is only Rp. 200 million.
