IKN Dominated by Young Generation, Head of Authority Looking for Padel Investors to Cinemas

JAKARTA - The majority of the residents of the Capital of Nusantara (IKN) are inhabited by Generation Z and Millennials, with a share of around 50 percent of the total 147,427 people.

Therefore, the IKN Authority continues to strive to bring activities or activities to accommodate their needs, even those that are trending.

"So, first of all, Gen Z and Millennials are almost 50 comma so many percent, which means that this city must be designed for young people, that's the beginning," said Head of the IKN Authority Basuki Hadimuljono when met at the Statistics Agency (BPS) office, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 16.

Therefore, to support the lifestyle of the younger generation, Basuki said, he will look for investors to build padel and cinemas.

"Now I have to find investors who, for example, build padel, cinemas," said Basuki.

He also revealed that the ideal population for attracting investors to IKN is 2 million people.

"At least there are 2 million. That is in accordance with its capacity. But later if there are other infrastructure, it will definitely be more than that," he said.

Meanwhile, by 2028, it is targeted that as many as 4,100 State Civil Apparatus (ASN) have moved to IKN, in line with the establishment of IKN as the Political Capital.

BPS Head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said that the number of residents in IKN now reached 147,427 people.

"Based on the results of the 2025 Capital of Nusantara Population Data (PPIKN), the current population of IKN in the IKN delineation area is recorded as 147,427 people or 43,293 households," he said.

From the data, Generation Z dominates the population with a percentage of 27.20 percent or around 40,100 people, followed by the millennial generation with 23.53 percent or around 34,690 people.

Then the post-gen Z generation reached 22.28 percent or about 32,847 people, the X generation 19.29 percent or about 28,439 people, baby boomers 7.14 percent or about 10,526 people and pre-boomers 0.55 percent or about 811 people. Meanwhile, for the concentration of population distribution, the highest number is in Samboja Kuala Village (Samboja District), Muara Jawa Ulu and Muara Jawa Coastal Villages (Muara Jawa District) and Telemow Village (Sepaku District), with a population density of more than 400 people per square kilometer.
