Chase Zero ODOL 2027, the Ministry of Transportation Normalizes 300 More Truck Dimensions in East Java
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) is committed to enforcing the handling of over dimension over loading (ODOL) vehicles.
One of the steps taken is to normalize approximately 300 more dimensional freight (trucks) in East Java (Jatim).
Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi said that the normalization of freight transport is a tangible manifestation of strengthening safe, orderly, and sustainable freight transport.
"This step is part of the national agenda towards Indonesia Zero ODOL 2027," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, December 16.
In the 2025 Over-Dimensional Vehicle Normalization activity in Surabaya, Tuesday, December 16, the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) symbolically normalized 26 vehicles which were representatives of the East Java Driver Movement (GSJT).
Dudy said the normalization of vehicles was carried out by returning the physical dimensions and cargo capacity of freight vehicles to match factory standards and applicable regulations.
Furthermore, said Dudu, all freight vehicles in East Java will be encouraged to meet the standardized dimensions and load specifications. This program is also accompanied by socialization and re-affirmation regarding the dangers and violations of ODOL.
"The problem of over dimension and over load is not just a technical issue for vehicles, but concerns public safety, logistics efficiency, infrastructure resilience, and national competitiveness," he said.
Therefore, said Dudy, the Ministry of Transportation continues to accelerate the policy for handling ODOL through cooperation with local governments and all related stakeholders.
"The success of the ODOL policy cannot be achieved by one institution alone. There is a need for synergy between the central and regional governments, law enforcement officers, SOEs, transportation associations, car bodies, and freight transport business actors," said Dudy.
According to Dudy, the support from the East Java Provincial Government has a real impact on supervision in the field and encourages compliance by freight transport business actors.
The Ministry of Transportation also appreciates PT Jasa Raharja for its support in accelerating the handling of ODOL, including facilitating the normalization of 100 vehicles as a step to prevent accidents upstream. "The Ministry of Transportation will continue to improve regulations, strengthen supervision, and provide supporting facilities so that the transition process to safe freight transportation can run effectively and sustainably," he said.
