Ex-Liverpool asks Mohamed Salah not to rush to leave Anfield
JAKARTA - Former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher revealed that Mohamed Salah should postpone his plans to leave Liverpool and move to Saudi Arabia to get a decent farewell at Anfield.
Carragher, who had slammed the Egyptian for his claims last week that he had been dumped by manager Arne Slot, does not believe Salah will remain at the club next season.
However, he urged Salah to put aside his differences with Arne Slot and return from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations at the end of January 2026 to preserve his legacy and ensure the ending he deserves.
"I don't see Mo Salah playing for Liverpool next season. The most important thing in my mind is whether we will see Mo Salah from now until the end of the season?"
English:
"If he thinks about moving, I would urge him to think again. The reason I say that, if Mo Salah moves from Liverpool now, the talk is that he will go to the Saudi League."
"Liverpool in the second half of the season can reach the FA Cup final, the Champions League final. Can you imagine Mo Salah in Saudi Arabia watching Liverpool out in Budapest in the Champions League final (this season)? " said Carragher to Sky Sports.
Salah was absent in Liverpool's victory at Inter Milan in the middle of last week after his emotional outburst. However, he returned in the victory on Saturday, December 13, 2025 against Brighton.
He came on in the 26th minute to replace Joe Gomez as the defender was injured. Salah even scored an assist for Hugo Ekitike's second goal in the 60th minute.
Not only that, he also gave applause to the supporters at Anfield after the match.
"He deserves the respect, he deserves a mosaic at the Kop. He deserves to bring his wife and kids to the pitch in his last game and really celebrate what he has done as a Liverpool player."
"So, put aside your differences with the manager for four months and get a festive farewell," Carragher said again.
