Prabowo asks Raja Ampat to continue to be guarded, not to be destroyed by tourists

President Prabowo Subianto has asked the Raja Ampat area to continue to be guarded so that it does not experience damage due to tourist activities, given its great natural potential and beauty that has been widely known at the world level.

"Raja Ampat I think has become famous in the world. Where is the Regent of Raja Ampat? But, we must take care of Raja Ampat and all areas so that they are not damaged by tourists," said Prabowosaat giving directions to the heads of regional governments in Papua and the Executive Committee for the Acceleration of Special Autonomy Development in Papua at the State Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 16, reported by ANTARA.

The President understands the geographical conditions of Papua which has difficult terrain, but has high natural potential and strong tourist attractions.

Raja Ampat is said by Prabowo as one of the areas that have been widely known and attracted the interest of world figures to visit.

In his statement, the President emphasized the importance of maintaining the sustainability of Raja Ampat and other areas from the negative impacts of tourist visits, especially related to the behavior of tourists who come by boat and leave garbage and waste in tourist areas.

"Tourists come with their boats and sometimes also leave garbage, dirt, and so on," said the President.

Prabowo also asked that Papua's development in all fields be accelerated.

The Head of State emphasized that the acceleration of development was carried out comprehensively by placing food security as the main foundation.

The President also conveyed a number of priority programs of the central government for the acceleration of Papua development to be carried out in line with other regions.

The President said the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program has been running in Papua and will be completed to reach remote areas. In addition, it is targeted that people's schools can be enjoyed up to the district level.

Other programs of concern include the development of fishing villages in coastal areas, the development of public facilities, the strengthening of food security, and the development of food estate areas.

The President also emphasized the completion of the Trans Papua road construction to increase accessibility to all parts of Papua, open isolated areas, and reduce logistics costs.
