TNI Completes Construction of 7 Bailey Bridges in the Sumatra Disaster Location

JAKARTA - Deputy Head of the TNI Headquarters Information Center, Brigadier General TNI Osmar Silalahi said his party had successfully installed seven bailey bridges in the disaster-affected areas in Sumatra.

"The TNI together with the Ministry of PUPR and the regional government have successfully built 7 ready-made bridges, 1 each in Aceh, 3 in North Sumatra, and 3 in West Sumatra," said Osmar in a press release quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 16.

Osmar said that the seven bridges were built to connect land routes that had previously been cut off due to flooding and landslides. Now, the seven bridges can be used by the community for activities.

Not only that, the seven bridges can also help the TNI distribute logistics for disaster victims through land routes.

Osmar continued, until now, the personnel of the TNI AD Zeni Construction are still working to build several bridges at the point of the land route that is cut off.

He ensured that the work would be done to the maximum so that it could be completed in the near future.

Previously, one of the bridges that was completed by the TNI AD was located in Juli District, Bireuen Regency, Aceh.

The bridge was completed by the ranks of TNI AD personnel and related government agencies on Sunday (14/12).

"The completion of the emergency bridge was greeted with happiness and gratitude by the community because it reopened a vital access that connects Beunyot Village with Teupin Mane Village," said Head of Public Information of the Central Information Center of the TNI Headquarters, Rear Admiral (P) Agung Saptoadi in an official press release received in Jakarta, Monday (15/12).

With this bridge, Agung said that the mobility of the local community could return to normal.

In addition to restoring the activities of the local community, the Teupin Mane bailey bridge also became the main access for the mobilization of materials for the construction and repair of a number of other bridges on the connecting line between Bireuen Regency and Bener Meriah Regency, Central Aceh, to Gayo Lues.

Agung ensured that his party would continue to work to repair damaged land routes in order to accelerate the post-disaster recovery process in Aceh.

"The TNI will continue to deploy its capabilities to support the acceleration of the recovery of infrastructure and connectivity in disaster-affected areas," said Agung.
