New INKA Production Commuter Train Operates on Bogor Line Starting Today

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia or KAI Commuter operates two train sets (TS) of new KRL facilities produced by PT INKA (Persero) for the Jabodetabek Commuter Line service starting today.

The KRL facility with the serial number CLI-225 officially serves the Bogor Commuter Line after being declared to have passed safety and legality certification by the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.

KAI Commuter President Director, Mochamad Purnomosidi, said the operation of this new KRL facility was carried out after obtaining the eligibility and safety certification from the Ministry of Transportation.

"Starting Tuesday, December 16, 2025, KAI Commuter will begin operating the new CLI-225 KRL facilities produced by PT INKA on the Bogor line," said Purnomosidi in an official statement, Tuesday, December 16.

In the initial phase, these two new KRL lines are operated on the TS loop 20 and TS loop 22 with the Depok/Bogor-Manggarai/Jakarta Kota relationship. There are a total of eight trips per day served using the CLI-225 KRL facility on the crossing.

Purnomosidi said that in the initial stage of operation of the new CLI 225 LRT facility, KAI Commuter will continue to be accompanied by a team from PT INKA in its daily operations.

"A total of eight trips per day will be served using the CLI-225 KRL facility on the line," said Purnomosidi.

Purnomosidi said the operation of the new KRL is part of KAI Commuter's efforts to optimize the Jabodetabek Commuter Line service while replacing the KRL series that has entered the conservation period.

Currently, KAI Commuter manages 100 KRL series with a total of 1,064 train units to serve 1,063 daily trips across all lines. The serial number CLI-225 is a continuation of the previous numbering of new KRL, namely CLI-125. CLI is an acronym for Commuter Line Indonesia, the numbers 1 and 2 indicate the generation of facilities, while the number 25 indicates the year of manufacture.

General Manager of Corporate Secretary of PT INKA Bambang Sutrisno emphasized that all production processes are carried out domestically by referring to applicable safety and legality standards.

"The production of this KRL is carried out domestically, designed by the engineers of the nation's sons and daughters, and carried out using INKA production facilities in Madiun and Banyuwangi. The design and testing are carried out according to safety and legality standards so that they can meet the operational needs of the commuter services needed," said Bambang.

Meanwhile, Director General of Railways Allan Tandiono emphasized the commitment of DJKA in ensuring the safety and legality of every railway facility operated in Indonesia, including this new domestically produced KRL.

"This is a proud moment because the operated KRL facilities are domestic products produced by PT INKA. The national railway industry has been able to produce facilities that meet international safety and legality standards," said Allan.

Allan explained that two sets of CLI-225 light rail trains had undergone a series of static and dynamic tests with a mileage of more than 4,000 kilometers before being declared fit for operation.

The certification issued by DJKA is a guarantee that the facilities are safe, reliable, and comfortable for Commuter Line Jabodetabek passengers.

"The marine certification issued by DJKA is a guarantee that the CLI-225 LRT facilities are safe, comfortable, reliable, and lay operated for commuter line passenger transportation in Jabodetabek. This is also a manifestation of good synergy between regulators, operators, and domestic manufacturing industries," he said.

Allan hopes that the addition of new KRL facilities produced by PT INKA will not only increase the capacity and quality of KAI Commuter services, especially in the Bogor Line, but also become an important milestone in strengthening the independence of the national railway industry. "Safety, comfort, and reliability of services remain the top priority in every operation of railway facilities," he said.
