Government compensation to victims of the Sumatra disaster is Rp15 million, severe injuries Rp5 million

JAKARTA - Social Minister (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf stated that the government would provide compensation to the heirs of victims who died due to floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

"We continue to follow President Prabowo's instructions in handling floods and landslides and will provide sympathy to heirs, family members who died of Rp. 15 million and compensation for severe injuries of Rp. 5 million," said the Minister of Social Affairs in Banda Aceh, Tuesday, quoted by Antara.

The statement was made on the sidelines of symbolically handing over assistance to Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf at the front yard of the Aceh Governor's Office, Banda Aceh.

The Minister of Social Affairs explained that the distribution of sympathy strings to the heirs of disaster victims would be distributed after an assessment, identification, and verification together with the provincial and district/city governments so that it was targeted.

After being verified and gradually synchronized with the local government according to the victim data, said the Ministry of Social Affairs, the sympathy rope will be immediately distributed.

"If the data is complete, we will immediately distribute the compensation to the heirs," said the Minister of Social Affairs.

The central government will conduct an assessment together with the Aceh Government and the district/city governments so that the assistance is targeted.

According to the Minister of Social Affairs, in the economic recovery, the approach is based on needs such as fishermen, farmers, traders, whose needs are different.

"This means that the assistance we distribute in the post-disaster recovery process is in accordance with the data collection, so that the assistance is targeted and meets the needs," said the Minister of Social Affairs.

In the handover of the continued assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs, Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf and elements of the Aceh Forkopimda were also present.
