Suicide Bombing Shakes Nigerian Military Post, 5 Soldiers Reported Dead
JAKARTA - At least five soldiers were killed in a suicide bomb blast carried out by a man at a Nigerian military post in the northeast near the border with Cameroon.
This was announced by local security and defense sources quoted by AFP. However, the Nigerian military denied any casualties on the part of the army.
"I counted five bodies lying covered in blood behind my house," said a member of the local government-sponsored militia group, Umar Sa'idu.
Umar Sa'idu admitted to helping transport the bodies of the victims to be evacuated to the hospital.
The Nigerian military only confirmed the existence of injured victims without mentioning the number.
Several sources told AFP on Monday evening, December 15, and Tuesday morning, December 16, that the attack took place on Sunday, December 14.
The suicide bombing targeted a military position in Firgi, an area near Pulka, a remote town in Borno state.
