Pakistan's Right-Wing Extremist Opens a Call for Killing a Judge Imprisoned for 35 Years

JAKARTA - The leader of the extreme right-wing political party (parpol) Zaheerul Hassan Shah was sentenced to 35 years in prison by Pakistan's anti-terrorism court in the case of the assassination of the chief justice of Pakistan.

Citing AP, Tuesday, December 16, the party that Shah heads, Tehreek-e-Labbaik, is known to be banned in Pakistan.

Shah was arrested last year after a video went viral in which he offered 10 million rupees, or $36,000, to anyone who could behead then-Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.

Isa had faced criticism from hardline religious groups last year after giving a guarantee to a man from the Ahmadiyah minority community in a blasphemy case.

Shah's lawyer, Maqsood-ul-Haq, confirmed his client was found guilty in the case by an anti-terrorism court in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore yesterday.

The Pakistani government banned the Tehreek-e-Labbaik political party following a deadly clash between the party's supporters and the police during a pro-Gaza demonstration.

Since the clashes, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Party leader Saad Rizvi has disappeared.
