The Regency Government Deploys Heavy Equipment to Open Roads in West Pasaman Buried by Landslide 2 Weeks Ago

JAKARTA - The West Pasaman Regency Government (Pemkab) in West Sumatra (Sumbar), through the Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Office, is accelerating the opening and hardening of roads at the Tinggam landslide location, Nagari (Village) Sinuruik, Talamau District, to open access to the Tombang community.

The field executor of the West Pasaman PUPR Office, Mulyadi, said that the acceleration of the opening and hardening of the road was assisted by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Forum for Communication of District Leaders (Forkopimcam), and the surrounding community.

"Currently, there are two units of heavy equipment, excavators, one unit of backhoe loader, six dump trucks, and two double-wheeled Kijang cars working to accelerate the hardening of the road," he said in Talamau, Tuesday, quoted by Antara.

His party hopes for the support of all parties so that the road access that has been buried since Friday, November 28, can be reopened.

"We target that this road access can be re-used as soon as possible, because it is a pity to see people who carry their daily needs through this landslide ruins," he said.

With the condition of high rainfall, he said, his party was hampered in accelerating the opening of the road.

The Regent of West Pasaman, Yulianto, emphasized that he would continue to accelerate the handling of natural disasters in the area, including opening access roads in Tinggam Sinuruik Talamau.

"The emergency response period for disasters has been extended again until December 22. We continue to handle it seriously at a number of points, including opening the road buried in a landslide in Tinggam Talamau," he said.
