In addition to the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, the KPK investigates a travel agent to the former Treasurer of Amphuri regarding the Hajj Quota Corruption Case.
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) also examined a number of witnesses for alleged corruption in determining quotas and organizing the 2023-2024 Hajj pilgrimage at the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag). One of them is the former Treasurer of the Association of Muslim Hajj and Umrah Organizers of the Republic of Indonesia (Amphuri), Tauhid Hamdi.
"That's right. This time the examination is for the calculation of the country's losses," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo when confirmed by reporters, Tuesday, December 16.
Tauhid is said to have fulfilled the summons for the examination. He was present from 11.09 WIB or shortly after the former Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas came to the KPK Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta to be questioned by investigators in the same case.
Then there are a number of witnesses from other travel parties who were examined by the KPK. The details are as follows:

Tauhid has been asked for information by the KPK three times, namely on September 19; September 25; and October 7. He was then questioned by investigators about his duties and functions when he served as Treasurer of Amphuri.
Meanwhile, during the second examination, Tauhid admitted that he was questioned about his meeting with the former Minister of Religion, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas. The meeting was said to discuss the distribution of additional Hajj quotas.
The third examination, Tauhid, is still being questioned about his meeting with Gus Yaqut. He revealed that there were two meetings with Gus Yaqut that were investigated by investigators. The two meetings took place when Yaqut served as Minister of Religion and after Yaqut did not serve.
As previously reported, the KPK has issued a general investigation order (sprindik) for alleged corruption in adding quotas and organizing the hajj. This institution reasoned that the issuance was carried out so that they could carry out coercive efforts.
The Sprindik general uses Article 2 Paragraph 1 and/or Article 3 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2021 jo article 55 paragraph 1-1 of the Criminal Code. This means that there is state loss that occurs due to this corrupt practice.
The state's losses in the 2023-2024 quota and Hajj corruption cases are said to have reached more than Rp1 trillion. This number is still increasing because it is only the initial count of the KPK which continues to coordinate with the Financial Supervisory Board (BPK).
This case started with the provision of 20,000 additional Hajj quotas from the Saudi Arabian government for Indonesia to reduce the queue of pilgrims.
However, recently the distribution turned out to be problematic because it was divided equally, namely 50 percent for regular hajj and 50 percent for special hajj.
In fact, according to the law, the distribution should be 92 percent for regular hajj and 8 percent for special hajj.
