Agam Calculating Post-disaster Hydro-meteorological Damage, Fantastic Recovery Budget
LUBUK BASUNG - The Agam Regency Government, West Sumatra, needs a budget of Rp. 741.54 billion to repair houses, bridges, roads, places of worship, schools, irrigation, and various other facilities that were damaged by hydrometeorological disasters.

Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Agam Rahmat Lasmono said the budget needs were based on temporary data collection carried out by local local government organizations (OPD).

"We are still validating data on damage to houses, roads, bridges, irrigation, and other facilities," said Rahmat in Lubuk Basung, Antara, Tuesday, December 16.

He detailed that the budget was needed, among others, for the repair of 359 units of medium damaged houses with an estimated fund of Rp. 195.30 billion, as well as the repair of 69 damaged bridge points with a need of Rp. 208.2 billion.

In addition, the repair of damaged roads in 49 points is estimated to require Rp. 18.75 billion, the repair of 11 places of worship for Rp. 1.8 billion, and the repair of 108 educational facilities with a budget of Rp. 12.5 billion.

For the agriculture and water resources sectors, BPBD Agam recorded damage to 138 irrigation network units with a funding requirement of Rp. 38.54 billion, repair of 16 dam units of Rp. 540 million, and restoration of agricultural land of 1,948.23 hectares with a budget of Rp. 39.33 billion.

Other needs include the construction of 548 temporary housing units worth Rp16.44 billion, the construction of five dam and ditch units with a fund of Rp1 billion, the construction of one pond of Rp200 million, and the normalization of 19 rivers which are estimated to cost Rp131 billion.

The regional government also allocated budget needs for the repair of 30 government buildings amounting to Rp76.5 billion, as well as the replacement of livestock of 5,025 heads with a value of Rp8.30 billion.

"The need for this fund can still change because data collection and validation of damage continue," he said.

In addition to damaging various facilities, hydrometeorological disasters in Agam Regency also caused casualties. BPBD recorded 192 people died, 73 people were declared missing, seven people were treated, and 54 people were isolated.
