Every Trader Affected by the Kramat Jati Central Market Fire Can Receive Rp5 Million in Aid

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has disbursed Rp5 million in cash assistance to each trader affected by the fire at the C2 fruit los of Kramat Jati Market, East Jakarta.

In his presentation, the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung revealed assistance to traders so that they still have capital to carry out buying and selling activities after their kiosks and merchandise were burned.

"We provide assistance to 121 traders, 5 million per trader so that they can survive for these 5 days," said Pramono at the Kramag Jati Central Market, East Jakarta, Tuesday, December 16.

In addition to cash assistance, the DKI Provincial Government has also opened access to financing for traders affected by Bank Jakarta. This policy was taken after the Provincial Government saw the large turnover of transactions at the Kramat Jati Central Market which reached Rp. 100 million per day.

Pramono said that with such a scale of business, traders need credit facilities so that they can immediately recover trading activities after the fire.

"I also just found out that the turnover per day is up to 100 million. So that's why the traders asked for the convenience of taking credit from Bank Jakarta," he said.

The fire that occurred on Monday, December 15, burned hundreds of kiosks at C2 fruit market and affected 121 traders. The total loss is estimated at Rp. 10 billion.

Fortunately, Pramono said that the market building managed by Perumda Pasar Jaya has been insured. With this scheme, the renovation process will be carried out through an insurance company mechanism so that the work can be carried out quickly and measured.

"As stated by the President Director of Perumda Pasar Jaya, this area is insured. The next renovation will be handled through the insurance mechanism," he said.

To keep the wheels of the economy moving, the DKI Provincial Government has prepared a temporary shelter for traders. The location is about 100 meters from the fire area and is prepared so that the buying and selling activities continue during the renovation process.

In addition to the physical recovery of the building, Pramono also highlighted the prevention aspect so that similar incidents do not recur. He emphasized the improvement of the electrical system which is suspected to be the cause of the fire, as well as the addition of safety facilities in the market area.

"In the renovation, I ask that the aspect of preventing electrical short circuits be improved. For fire hydrants, an addition will be made because it is needed in this area," concluded Pramono.
