Central Java Provincial Government Predicts 7.8 Million Tourists Will Enter During Christmas-New Year Holidays
SEMARANG - The Central Java Provincial Government through the Youth, Sports, and Tourism Office (Disporapar) predicts that at least 7.8 million tourists will visit during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 holidays.
The head of the Central Java Disporapar, M Masrofi, in Semarang, Monday, said the prediction of the number of tourists during the Christmas and New Year holidays increased by 4.32 percent compared to last year.
The Christmas and New Year holiday period starts on December 20, 2025 to January 4, 2026, and the peak of visits is estimated on December 25 and December 28, 2025.
He said there were five regions in Central Java that were expected to receive a fairly high number of tourist visits, namely Klaten Regency, Semarang City, Demak Regency, Magelang Regency and Surakarta City.
If totaled, tourist visits in December 2025 including the Nataru holiday event are predicted to reach 8.57 million visitors, or an increase of around 12.95 percent compared to the same period in 2024.
Meanwhile, the number of tourists who visited Central Java during the period of January-November 2025 was recorded at 60.9 million tourists.
"Java has 1,635 tourist destinations. In detail, 759 natural attractions, 268 cultural attractions, and 608 artificial attractions. In addition, there are 896 tourist villages. This will be the main buffer for the surge in tourism during the Nataru period," he said.
10 tourist destinations are expected to be visited, namely the Old City of Semarang, the Great Mosque of Demak, the Tomb of Sunan Kudus, the Tomb of Sunan Kalijaga, Prambanan Temple, Sheikh Zayid Grand Mosque, Dieng, Borobudur Temple, Marina Beach and the Central Java Grand Mosque.

Regarding the readiness of tourist destinations and managers of tourist areas, the Central Java Provincial Government has sent a circular letter from the Regional Secretary.
In the circular numbered 100.3.4.1/2025, the regional actors, both the regent/mayor and the tourism manager are asked to serve tourists prima, prepare tourism facilities well.
As well as, ensuring the price of products sold at tourist attractions is within reasonable levels, mitigating the potential for hydrometeorological disasters, to coordination in the event of a disaster.
"Regarding risk mitigation and destination readiness, we have worked closely with related agencies, ranging from BPBD, Dishub, Satpol PP, TNI/ Polri," he said.
"For destinations such as mountain climbing, white water rafting, extreme rides, we also continue to monitor the potential for disaster mitigation," he concluded.
