More Schools, Fewer Teachers: Bogor City DPRD Requests Mature Planning
BOGOR - The Bogor City DPRD highlighted the importance of improving the quality of education as the main foundation for human resource development in Bogor City. The spotlight was delivered by Member of Commission IV of the Bogor City DPRD, Tri Riyanto Andhika Putra, while accompanying Bogor Mayor Dedie A. Rachim in the inauguration of the SDN Cimanggu building and SDN Kencana 1, Monday, December 15.
According to Tri Riyanto, the construction and renovation of school infrastructure must be accompanied by the strong commitment of the Bogor City Government to improve the quality of education comprehensively, ranging from educators to equitable access to education services.
"The quality of education must be the top priority. We want education in Bogor City to really rise in class, with quality that is equal, safe, and comfortable for all children," said Tri Riyanto.
He emphasized that based on the results of the working meeting and supervision carried out by Commission IV of the Bogor City DPRD, there were a number of fundamental issues that still had to be corrected by the Bogor City Government. One of them is the quality and availability of teaching staff.
Tri Riyanto revealed that the addition of classrooms and the construction of new schools could potentially create new problems if it is not accompanied by a mature teacher recruitment planning. Based on the data he has, in 2025 there has been no addition of new educators, while around 20 teachers enter retirement every month.
"If we want to produce a generation of gold, the teacher must also be prepared well. The Education Service must ensure the capacity of teachers is increased through training, as well as preparing a plan for the future needs of educators," he said.
Apart from educators, the Bogor City DPRD also highlighted the lack of access to educational facilities. Tri Riyanto assessed that there are still suburban areas that do not have state schools, while the distribution of schools is still concentrated in certain areas.
He hopes that the Bogor Smart program launched by the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Bogor can become a strategic instrument to encourage the equalization of education throughout the city.
"We will also monitor the use of School Operational Assistance so that it is targeted, so that no more children in Bogor City drop out of school. The improvement in the quality of education must be felt by the community," he concluded.
