Menko Airlangga Reveals 158,848 KUR Debtors Affected by Disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that as many as 158,848 people with People's Credit for Business (KUR) loans were affected by natural disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra with a financing value of Rp. 8.9 trillion.

"The impact of this disaster is IDR 8.9 trillion and 158,848 debtors," said Airlangga in the Plenary Cabinet Meeting, Monday, December 15.

He added that the total number of KUR debtors in the three provinces reached 1,018,282 people with a financing value of Rp. 43.95 trillion.

On that occasion, Airlangga made a proposal to President Prabowo regarding the policy of easing and eliminating KUR for debtors affected by disasters.

The proposed relief policy includes exemption from the payment of principal and interest installments for debtors, KUR distributors continue to receive principal and interest payments without filing claims with insurance, and the government will also bear the cost of interest subsidies or regular KUR margin subsidies in the current year.

Furthermore, Airlangga said that the cancellation of KUR was given to existing debtors whose business could no longer continue.

Meanwhile, he added that other debtors would receive relief in the form of loan extensions, a grace period in 2026, and the establishment of a 0 percent interest rate in that year.

For 2027, the interest rate is set at 3 percent.

In the acceleration phase of recovery, new debtors also get ease of requirements, including businesses that are not required to have been running for six months.

In addition, the government provides a grace period for principal installments in 2026 as well as relief related to BPJS Employment membership.

The provisions for interest subsidies and margin subsidies for regular KUR refer to the Minister of Finance's Decree Number 317 of 2023.
