Peak Electricity Load During Christmas is Predicted to be as High as 46,808 MW

JAKARTA - The Oil and Natural Gas Upstream Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) as the Chair of the National Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 (Nataru) Post for the Energy and Mineral Resources Sector (ESDM) projects the peak load of electricity during Nataru at 46,808 MW.

"The prognosis of the electricity supply condition in the electricity system of Java, Bali, Sumatra, Kalimantan, and most of East Indonesia in the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 periods is in a safe condition," said the Head of the ESDM Nataru Post, Erika Retnowati, Monday, December 15.

The power supply capacity is estimated at 53,930 MW, while the total reserve at the plant is recorded at 7,122 MW or 15.2 percent.

Present at the same opportunity, PLN Retail and Commercial Director, Adi Priyanto confirmed that PLN plants have a large enough margin so that electricity supply is ensured to be safe.

"Our generation has a margin of 7 GW, and HOP (PLTU) in each plant for 22 days," continued Adi.

Adi added that the gas supply for gas-fired power plants (PLTG) is also sufficient for the next 22 days. With this amount, Adi ensures that the children's electricity supply remains safe during the Nataru Postko period of the ESDM sector.

"Of course, from the side of the readiness of our transmission, distribution and retail trade, all of this is ready," said Adi.
