Google is enhancing Gemini's intelligence in location-based searches by making Google Maps the main display. This update transforms local search results, which were previously dominated by long texts, into interactive visuals that immediately present context.

In the latest version, users who search for locations such as cafes, restaurants, or parks will immediately be presented with a map at the top of the screen. Generic red dots are now replaced with emoji-style icons that adapt to the type of place, from coffee to green open spaces.

Each location is displayed in a card containing a photo, star rating, and a summary of the reviews most often mentioned by users.

Google says this visual approach is designed so that users can make decisions faster without having to open a separate Maps app. For Gemini, this is an important step from a text-based chatbot to a more intuitive location discovery tool.

This feature was first spotted earlier this month and is in line with Gemini's interface refresh inspired by ChatGPT's design. Gemini's team through the X platform has also confirmed it.

This update is rolling out for English-speaking users, both on mobile and desktop devices. Although the integration of Google Maps in Gemini is not new, this visual refinement marks an important turning point. Gemini now feels more mature, more practical, and more relevant for users who want to know not only what, but also where
