Unhappy with the Appeal Verdict, Nikita Mirzani Officially Files a Kasasi
JAKARTA - Nikita Mirzani's legal battle entered a new, higher round. Unhappy with the decision of the DKI Jakarta High Court, which actually increased his sentence, Nikita officially filed a cassation legal effort to the Supreme Court.
English:
"The original power of attorney has been received and has been given to declare cassation yes," said Galih Rakasiwi, Nikita Mirzani's lawyer at the South Jakarta District Court, Monday, December 15.
English:
This cassation submission is a direct request from Nikita Mirzani himself. He feels that the current ruling does not reflect the true sense of justice.
English:
"Yes, it is actually we who are asked by Nikita himself to appeal," said Galih.
English:
The legal team now has 14 days to prepare and submit a cassation memorandum. This document will contain all their objections and legal arguments against the previous decision.
English:
Although the cassation process cannot be predicted in terms of duration, Nikita's party hopes that the results will be faster. The trial process at the cassation level itself will focus on examining the file.
English:
"This is a trial file. So for Nikita and ourselves we are not present," explained Galih.
English:
With the filing of the cassation, Nikita Mirzani showed that he would not give up so easily. He is ready to take all available legal channels to fight for what he believes in.
English:
The main focus of this cassation is to cancel the decision of the South Jakarta District Court and the DKI Jakarta High Court. Nikita hopes that the Supreme Court can see this case from a different perspective.
English:
Previously, the High Court's panel of judges officially sentenced 6 years in the appeal verdict reading trial which was longer than the verdict of the South Jakarta District Court some time ago.
English:
In the public hearing, Presiding Judge Sri Andini read the verdict stating that Nikita was proven to be legally and convincingly guilty. He was charged with multiple articles, namely the crime of ITE and the crime of money laundering (TPPU).
English:
"Therefore, the defendant is sentenced to imprisonment for 6 (six) years," said Presiding Judge Sri Andini at the DKI Jakarta High Court, Tuesday, December 9.
English:
Not only the body's punishment, the actress who is often called 'Nyai' was also charged with a fantastic fine. The panel of judges set a fine of Rp. 1 billion which must be paid by the defendant.
