Amorim Speaks Out on Criticism from Former Manchester United Player
JAKARTA - Ruben Amorim said he was open to criticism from former Manchester United players because the results achieved were not good enough.
However, the Portuguese coach also told critics, who are also former Red Devils players, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, that their assessments were made without having all the information.
Amorim has been repeatedly questioned by a number of former Manchester United players who are now commentators, including Scholes, Butt, Gary Neville, and Roy Keane.
Scholes, who won 11 Premier League titles during Sir Alex Ferguson's reign as manager, was scathing in his criticism.

The former midfielder said Amorim was not the right man and did not understand the club.
In response, Amorim said the opinions of former players were normal, but added that they did not understand everything that was going on behind the scenes at Old Trafford.
"I think it's normal. I think it's a fact that I, as the manager of Manchester United, feel we are underachieving."
"We should have got more points, especially this season. So, I accept that naturally. Sometimes, they don't have all the information and see Manchester United to the standard they experience here, always winning."
"So, it's difficult for them to see their former club in this situation," Amorim said.
Amorim has had a difficult first year as Manchester United manager, winning just 14 of 42 Premier League games since his appointment in November 2024.
Scholes also criticised the 40-year-old's style of play - employing a back three instead of a back four - and his treatment of academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo.
However, Amorim believes all the criticism from the former player will disappear if the team wins more often.
"I think the problem is not winning. Of course you can show a lot of things and they show a lot of things that we need to improve."
"But the big problem is not winning. If I win, I can go to the game on horseback, arrive there, play with just two defenders and everything will be fine."
"The problem is that I as a manager was not good enough and that is also a fact. I can accept that. So, that is the only problem."
"For them, the problem is that Manchester United is not winning and is not in the position it should be," Amorim said.
