Communication Network in Aceh has recovered 50 percent after the disaster.
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital said that telecommunications networks - especially BTS - in Aceh after the flood and landslide disaster had recovered and were operating normally at around 50 percent.
The Minister of Communication and Information, Meutya Hafid, explained that out of a total of 3,735 BTS affected in Aceh, as many as 3,283 BTS or 87.89 percent have been successfully recovered.
However, he added, not all of the BTS that were recovered could immediately operate due to limited power supply constraints in the affected areas.
"BTS who have not fully recovered are 452 units or about 12 percent. The track cannot be penetrated or is still under repair," said Meutya on Monday, December 15.
The Minister of Communication and Information also revealed that several areas in Aceh such as Bener Meriah, Takengon, and Aceh Tamiang are areas with the most difficult challenges in network recovery.
On the other hand, the recovery of telecommunications networks in the province of Sumatra is much better. Where North Sumatra has recovered above 97 percent, while in West Sumatra it has reached 99 percent.

To accelerate recovery in Aceh, Meutya encouraged mobile operators to send more generators as a temporary solution.
"If the electricity is stable, about 87 percent of the BTS that has been recovered can immediately be operational," said Meutya.
Regarding the target for full recovery, he emphasized that the government and operators continue to unite data and accelerate, although the recovery time depends heavily on field conditions and electricity availability.
