Prabowo: Safe Disaster Budget Thanks to Budget Efficiency

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Indonesia has adequate financial capacity to finance disaster management thanks to the budget efficiency policy at ministries/institutions, which reduces wasteful State Budget (APBN).

Prabowo said that this efficiency was carried out from the beginning of the government and was considered successful in saving up to hundreds of trillion rupiah.

"We have prepared the state budget and I say that this budget, we have prepared because the money is there, because at the beginning of our government, we saved hundreds of trillions, which I was attacked, scolded for this efficiency is wrong," said Prabowo in the Plenary Cabinet Meeting at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday, December 15, reported by ANTARA.

The President said that the disaster handling budget had been prepared because the availability of state funds was in a safe condition.

With the existing fiscal capacity, the government is moving quickly to channel initial assistance to disaster-affected areas.

Prabowo also instructed the distribution of tactical operational funds of Rp. 20 billion to each governor in the affected areas, as well as Rp. 4 billion to each regent and mayor in 52 districts/cities. The funds were sent outside the recovery budget and had been received in a short time.

"All the affected governors, I immediately ordered to send Rp20 billion in tactical operational funds. All the regents, mayors in 52 affected districts and cities, I immediately sent Rp4 billion of this has been direct, and has been received outside the recovery budget. Three days after my instructions, the money has arrived in all districts," said the President.
