Yamaha Registers YZF-R2 Patent, Strong Signal Launches Next Year
JAKARTA - Yamaha is secretly preparing a new motorcycle that will play in the 200 cc segment, which of course can expand the options for motor sport fans in various parts of the world.
Quoting from the Rushlane website, Monday, December 15, Yamaha has registered the name YZF-R2 patent in India, just like in various countries that have patented the R2 name.
This motorcycle is expected to be very attractive to the Asian market because entry-level sports motorcycles are quite popular. Later, globally, the upcoming YZF-R2 will fill the gap between the YZF-R15 and the YZF-R25.
It is said that with the name R2 now registered in India, the launch may be carried out soon, possibly in 2026. However, there is currently no official confirmation regarding this.

In terms of design, the R2 is expected to come with a sporty feel similar to that seen on other Yamaha sports bikes. Key features may include a dual headlight arrangement, sharp LED DRL, aggressive front view, ribbed fuel tank, muscular fairing, split seat, and a muffler that curves upwards.
The upcoming Yamaha YZF-R2 has the potential to get a comprehensive range of technological features. The main features that may be included include a traction control system (TCS) and a complete range of connectivity features. This motorcycle is expected to have a full color TFT screen that will display various information, as well as driving modes.
For a smooth driving experience, the upcoming Yamaha YZF-R2 is expected to get features such as Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), assist and slipper clutch, and quickshifter. Of course, it is very interesting to wait for the impact from Yamaha.
